We now have a unique opportunity. We can find out about our ancestors from our own family members:
- Question your parents, grand parents, uncles etc. about what they know about your heritage.
- Find out any names, dates and town of birth
- Listen to any family stories they may know.
Once they are gone, that opportunity is lost.
If you want to research your family history, you need to have information that goes back as far as possible.
Genealogists need details that are 100 years old – further back is better.
Privacy laws make it difficult to investigate more recent birth records unless you write to or visit the relevant record depository and provide documents proving a family connection.
Don’t delay – talk to your family now!
